The IXUS 75 includes Canon's DIGIC III imaging processor, making super-fast responses and advanced noise reduction, as well as automatic face detection which brings human faces into sharp focus and corrects any exposure errors. Also combined is Canons' iSAPS technology (Intelligent Scene Analysis based on Photographic Space) which optimizes key camera settings even before a shot is taken. On the top of the camera is a mode switch to select video, scene or auto mode, together with a power on button and zoom rocker. On the back of the camera is an access to print functions, playback, menu access and display modes, and also controls for changing ISO settings, shooting mode, flash settings or selecting Macro mode. The automatic shooting modes include auto, manual, digital macro, color accent and can be programmed following the location and the subject. However the flash options are limited with a choice between Flash On (which cannot be used in auto mode), Automatic Flash and Flash Off. Canon PowerShot TX1

The Canon TX1 is an unusual hybrid digital camera optimized for video capture. It features a 10x f/3.5-5.6 optically stabilized zoom lens, a seven megapixel imager, and a Movie mode with resolutions up to 1,280 x 720 pixels and frame-rates up to 60 frames per second in QVGA resolution. Other resolutions are limited to 30 fps video, and surprisingly for a camera aimed at video capabilities, Canon has selected a Motion JPEG AVI file format rather than the MPEG4 format found on most other such cameras.
Other features of the Canon TX1 include a rather small 1.8 inch LCD display with a fairly average 115,000 pixel resolution, as well as 35mm-equivalent zoom range from a rather tight 39mm wide-angle to a powerful 390mm telephoto. Optical zoom is supported during movies. Focusing is done via Canon's relatively new Face-Detect AF system, and the TX1 can macro focus to a minimum of 10 centimeters; however, the TX1 has a Super Macro mode that gets right up to the glass. ISO sensitivity tops out at 1,600 as with Canon's other PMA 2007 PowerShot digicams, and data is stored on Secure Digital or MultiMediaCards, including the newer SDHC types, with a not-very-generous 32MB MMC Plus card in the product bundle.
The TX1 derives its power from a custom lithium-ion battery pack and connectivity includes USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed), standard definition NTSC, or PAL A/V out, as well as high definition 1080i component video out. A component video cable assembly (CTC-100/S) is included.

Leica C-LUX 2

The new Leica C-LUX 2 is the equivalent of Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FX30 digital camera, a compact seven megapixel model with image stabilized 3.6x optical zoom lens. Changes between the two models are mostly in terms of the product bundle, where Leica's variant ships with a 64MB Secure Digital card while Panasonic does not include a card, and Leica includes Adobe's Photoshop Elements 5.0 software in place of the ArcSoft bundle provided by Panasonic. The camera body is essentially identical other than product logos, and the absence of the oval trim piece on the front of the Panasonic which serves to provide a grip for your fingers.
As with the DMC-FX30, the C-LUX 2 lens is branded as a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit, and offers a useful 28mm wide angle to 100mm telephoto. There's no optical viewfinder, with a large 2.5" 207k pixel LCD display being provided as the sole method of framing and reviewing images instead. ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 1600, with the ability to extend to a maximum of ISO 3200 in high sensitivity mode. Other features include an 848x480 movie mode (plus a choice of lower resolutions), SD / MMC card storage with SDHC compatibility, Lithium Ion battery, and a generous selection of scene modes.

Hewlett Packard Photosmart R937

The Hewlett-Packard Photosmart R937 includes both an eight megapixel CCD imager and an Fujinon-branded 3x optical zoom lens. An 8x digital zoom will help you crop in on subjects even more tightly, but like any digital zoom it cannot recreate detail that wasn't in the wide-angle image, and hence will tend to soften images proportionally to the zoom strength. For framing images, there's a whooping 3.6 inch touchscreen LCD display - much larger than average, which would make the camera more conducive for sharing images with family and friends immediately after capture. There's no optical viewfinder though - something that's become an increasingly rare in modern digital cameras, unfortunately. Images are stored on Secure Digital / MultiMediaCards, including SDHC cards, or in 32MB of internal memory.
R937 shooting modes include Action, Auto (default), Beach, Landscape, Macro, Night Portrait, Panorama left, Panorama right, Portrait, Snow, Steady Photo (in menu), Sunset and Theatre. Other HP R937 features include in-camera red-eye removal and pet-eye fix, HP Design Gallery (artistic effects, borders, colors), slimming and HP touch-up, adaptive lighting, in-camera panorama preview and stitching and HP Image Advice.
Images captured on the HP Photosmart R937 are transferred to your computer over a USB 1.1 connection, rather slower than the USB 2.0 High Speed connections offered on most current cameras. The R937 derives its power from a proprietary Lithium Ion rechargeable battery, and a charger/AC adapter is included in the bundle. The HP R937 is covered by a 1 year warranty, comes with HP Photosmart software and is Windows Vista ready.

Samsung L74 Wide

The Samsung L74 Wide has a seven megapixel CCD imager coupled to a Samsung NV-branded 3.6x optical zoom lens with a useful 28mm wide angle. At wide angle the lens is reasonably bright at f/2.8, although as you reach the 100mm telephoto the maximum aperture becomes a rather dim f/5.8. The Samsung L74 Wide has an exceptionally generous 512MB of built-in memory (450MB available for photos), as well as both SD / MMC and SDHC card storage. Images are framed on a whopping 3.0" LCD display with a higher-than-average 230,000 pixel resolution.
The Samsung L74 also includes the company's face detection technology, coupled to both the autofocus and autoexposure systems to ensure that your subject's faces are correctly focused and exposed. One more unusual feature is the ability to capture video with sound at just a few pixels shy of SVGA resolution, although in this mode the framerate is limited to 20 frames per second. In the lower VGA and QVGA resolutions, the L74 Wide can manage 30 fps. Power comes from a proprietary Lithium Ion battery.

Pentax Optio A30

The Pentax Optio A30 is an attractive ten megapixel camera with an SMC Pentax-branded 3x optical zoom lens, and a 2.5" LCD display. Offering a higher than average resolution of 232,000 pixels, this LCD is the only method of framing images since the A30 forgoes any form of optical viewfinder.
The Pentax A30 has a fairly typical 35mm-equivalent focal range of 38 - 114mm, with a maximum aperture that varies from f/2.8 to f/5.4 across the zoom range. ISO sensitivity is from 64 to 1600 (3200 in blur reduction mode), and the A30 offers both Shutter-priority and Manual exposure modes, plus a generous twelve scene modes. The A30 offers shutter speeds ranging from 1/2000 to 4 seconds, Multi-segment, Center-weighted and Spot metering modes, and +/- 2.0EV of exposure compensation.
Optio A30 connectivity includes both high-speed USB 2.0 and NTSC / PAL video, and images are stored on Secure Digital / MultiMediaCards, including newer SDHC types, plus 22MB of built-in memory. Power is derived from a proprietary Lithium Ion battery pack.

Kodak EasyShare V1233

The Kodak EasyShare V1233 and V1253 are closely related cameras with 12 megapixel resolution and 3x SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH branded optical zoom lens. Both cameras have a high-res 16:9 video mode at 30 fps described as "720p". The lower-cost V1233 offers a 2.5-inch LCD display, while the V1253 uses a larger 3.1-inch display. The only other difference of note is that the V1253 weighs about 5 grams more.
Other features common to both the V1233 and V1253 include Face Detection Technology, which automatically adjusts the camera’s settings for optimal portrait shots, Digital Image Stabilization to reduce blur caused by camera shake or subject movement, a sleek design, and simple-to-use controls.
